Specialized Swimming

This course is for athletes looking to refine their techniques for CrossFit and triathlon competitions. We will work on technic and endurance. This course goes above a swim work out. We will break down technique and do individualized drills to enhance the athlete’s efficiency in the water. In our experience, the greatest fear of many athletes in the CrossFit and triathlon world is the water portion of every competition. Our goal is to ensure that you not only overcome any fear of the water but look forward to performing.

We will work on the following skills.

Front Crawl – Better known as free style. This stroke has multiple stages, and our goal here is to ensure aerodynamics are applied correctly in order to ensure reduction of drag, therefore reducing the amount of work needed to increase speed and performance.

Breast Stroke – This can be a resting or a competitive stroke. While in competition going around swim markers and to spot race course this stroke is effective. Timing and breathing are essential for this stroke to be effective.

Back Crawl – Although not recommended for races it can come in handy if swimmer needs to catch their breath specially while in CrossFit competitions.

Side Stroke – While not meant to be a fast stroke, it can be an effective resting stroke that will keep a swimmers head out of the water, making it easy for swimmers to catch their breath with out losing to much speed.

Other Strokes covered are Elementary back stroke and butterfly.

There are many benefits to swimming such as increased flexibility, endurance and range of motion. Also, while swimming, athletes work out small muscles that will help in overall performance.
